The fabulous sweeps of the Brands Hatch GP circuit were the playground for the drivers for Round 3 as rookie Joe Taylor took pole for the first race. The Exige driver topped the time sheets for the first time from Alex Ball in his S1, Craig Denman's S3 and John LaMaster's S2 as all 4 Elise variants filled the top 4 places.
Race 1 was a stormer with Alex Ball leading away until increasingly wayward handling prompted a mistake through Surtees that allowed Craig Denman to scamper away. Pole sitter Taylor spun but came home P4 as John LaMaster kept his nose clean to take the final step on the podium.
Post-race checks on engine performance designed to promote fair and even racing relegated Denman, LaMaster and Ball to the back of the grid with additional ballast so it was a mixed up grid that allowed John Atherton to lead away Race 2 and defend valiantly from the pack behind.
However he couldn't keep Joe Taylor behind and despite a mid-race Safety Car the Cannock based driver was not to be denied a magnificent first win. Denman and Ball completed the podium after a charge through the field.
Next up it's Oulton Park on the 30th June.
