Newcomers Oliver Crease (pictured left) and Simon Middleton (right) confirmed with Datum Motorsport for the 2018 Elise Trophy Championship.
Oliver and Simon entered the final round of the Elise Trophy Championship at Snetterton in October 2017. They have now committed to a full season in their Lotus Exige S2 built and supported by Datum Motorsport.
We sat down with Oliver to see what he had to say about the championship.
"We've both taken part in a couple of Elise Trophy races over the last 2 years and we've thoroughly enjoyed it. We've well and truly caught the bug and we've both been working hard to make this happen for this year."
When did you start racing?
This will be our first full season, but we've both taken part in one or two of the Elise Trophy races over the past couple of years so we are familiar with the format and the high level of competiton we are up against.
What is it you enjoy about racing?
I enjoy the challenge and the rush of adrenaline during close wheel to wheel racing. For Simon its the intoxicating blend of technical, personal and competitive elements what make it exciting for him.
What car / team are you racing for this season?
We are running in a newly race prepped Lotus Exige S2 run by Datum Motorsport. We've been impressed so far with what they have to offer and we are looking forward to working with them.
What are your ambitions for this season?
As it is our first full season, we are really looking to just develop our skills, learn the tracks and finish as many races as possible! I think reliability is the key if you want to stand a chance with a good overall championship finish.
Do you want to mention / thank any sponsors or partners?
This is pretty much a self funded campaign for us to begin with and we'd just like to thank Datum so far with the package they are putting together for us. This should be an exciting season ahead!
